Messed Up

The last few years I've looked at Christmas through different eyes. It used to be about the presents and food. But, I started to realize just how hollow they are. American consumerism seems to consume everything except what is really fulfilling. In my experience, Christians are no different than anyone else here and may be the worst offenders in the Christmas season.

My dislikes are the consumerism, the self centeredness, the Santa worship, and the focus on the empty things during a time that's supposed to celebrate the one who is anything but empty.

My likes are conversations like this, time spent with family and friends where conversations like this can come up, worshiping, reading and studying the biblical account, giving to others including the needy, and being thankful for what God has given.
